Study on the effects on playtherapy and parent education for the children neglected or abused education for the children neglected or abused

Abstract
This study was focused on the changes in the parenting styles of offensive parent and the maladaptive behaviors of children abused or neglected by their biological mother or father, utilizing playtherapy(PT) and playtherapy accompanied by parent education(PTPE). The subjects were overall 8 pairs of abused or neglected children and their biological parent(s) who were the offender, with 5 pairs matched to the PT group and 3 pairs to PTPE group. Pre-tests and post-tests were executed with MBRI-R and KPI-C before and after the treatments. The results were as follows: First, overall cases showed improvements in the several levels of subvariables in maladaptive behaviors of children rated by their offender parent. Second, insignificant differences showed up between two approaches with most part of desirable changes in PTPE group. Limits and implication of the study were discussed.
